Practices of Continental weddings

While traditional European wedding customs do not include these activities, most American newlyweds perhaps had time-honoured relationship parties, marital showers, and bachelor/bachelorette parties. This does not mean that Europeans are starting to combine some of these entertaining and well-liked customs, but somewhat that they do so in their own distinctive way.

For instance, guests will insert a piece of bread into the Coupe de Marriage, also known as the marriage bowl or baking pot, during a French wedding ceremony. We get the phrase" to bread" from this custom, which literally means to lift a glass to the couple! The French also provide a castle of creme-filled pastry puffs as their snack, the croquembouche.

It is typical for family and friends to hang a krevati three days before the wedding in the land of southern France. Families and friends may visit the partners at their house and place their children and money on the mattress for growth and benevolence. The couple then moves on to their welcome area and brings this stack of presents with them.

Without some aspiring pleasure, a marriage is incomplete in Switzerland. The best man and maid of honor does prepare a game schedule to make up the time between the evening appetizer and dinner a few hours later. In order to recognize or make fun of the pair during this time, friends will dress up and perform skits or tunes. For instance, they might force the man to chop timber or force him to make a blanket. The partners may also receive a product of green apples to send them good fortune in their futures together in addition to these interesting activities.
