A lick (also shortened to groom) is a guy who is going to be wedded or who has just been married. He is often combined with one or more bridesmaids and an ideal man.

In several cultures, the bridegroom constitutes a payment called dowry to his long term wife's family. This payment consist of livestock, money, commodities, or different valuables. Choosing considered a sign of fertility and guaranteed that the few will be taken care of financially following the marriage. Additionally, it is a sign of respect and loyalty amongst the families.
