Ukrainian customs for marriage

A Ukrainian bride is a breathtakingly gorgeous event that is jam-packed with celebrations and music. It can last many days with countless songs, events, and various festivities. It is typically held on a Saturday ( though extremely religious ceremonies can be performed on Sunday ).

Just before the temple meeting starts, one of the most significant rituals takes place. The bride and groom meet their separate households at the residence of the princess's parents during this event, which is known as the Blahoslovenya. Ok, the relatives of the bride and groom formally consent to their kids getting married. On their special evening, the wedding furthermore gets to meet the wife for the first time here!

The couples receive a rushnyk (embroidered towel) to step on after meeting their relatives. In their marriage, it is thought that whoever occupies it initially will be the head of the household. Before taking their commitments, the pair steps on this towel that they brought with them to temple.

Another custom that takes place during the temple service is when several godparent couples bless the couple. It's quite a sight to see that there are frequently 10+ godparent newlyweds per couple! These are also the same people who will look out for them and wish them the best in their union. The handful eventually makes their way down the aisle hand in hand and accepts their veneers from the preacher, demonstrating that they are a real team!
